RFECY believes in giving all children the best possible start in life, and we’re committed to assisting parents to ensure that their children have every opportunity to fulfill their potential.
Our interventions have moved from individualized interactions to recognition of the value of peer interactions and incorporating programming recommendations into daily activities. The role of our staff is to support the family, research and provide information and foster a community where everyone has an opportunity to participate fully.
Although our range of services has grown beyond the original programs, we continue to advocate for a system that will guarantee every child/youth – regardless of geography, parental income and the level of challenge access to quality support services that respond to their individual needs.
As an organization, we continue to focus on our commitment to partnerships with other agencies that service children. The programs supported through the new Mental Health Funding which were initiated in 2005 have stabilized as integral parts of Durham’s service system over the past year, are examples of positive community collaboration. It is our belief that only through collaborative efforts can we enhance the community’s capacity to support children and families in times of economic restraint.
The years have flown by since we first opened our doors but the excitement and satisfaction of being a part of such a progressive agency has never lessened. I value the opportunity to work with so many people over the years and to be a part of an organization that has made a difference in the lives of children and families in Durham Region.
